Beautiful start to the weekend. Hands have always been a thread to my work, from paintings to sculptures to poems, and now caring as a nurse. Using my hands to build and craft has helped me work through many struggles to move from the darkness into light. It was the near loss of my hand that taught me how to start to care for myself. So how appropriate is it that this sculpture is here as I return to my hometown. Hands shape our lives and bridge our connection to others. I admire how this sculpture celebrates beauty and strength as the hand creates shelter where we can all gather together and think about intention. It also honors the tradesmen that built this city hand by hand.
